There is no magic bullet when it comes to web security. That said, there is one thing that can buy you more security than practically anything else. It’s your passwords.
Your choice in – and management of – your web passwords can make or break your online presence. It’s really that simple. In fact, according to the Verizon 2012 Data Breach Investigations Report, of the 855 incidents and 174 million compromised records that Verizon analyzed, the use of stolen login credentials was first on the list of breaches of larger organizations. Stolen login credentials made up 30% of all incidents and accounted for 84% of all records breached!
So, come up with a plan for strong passwords and stick with it. It’s not a magic bullet but it’s pretty darned close.
