If you are using Acunetix v11, you will be able to upgrade your Acunetix installation to Acunetix v12, and all your settings will be retained. Proceed as follows:

  1. Download the latest version of Acunetix from https://www.acunetix.com/download/fullver/
  2. Backup the files in <C:\ProgramData\Acunetix 11>
  3. Install Acunetix v12 on the same machine as Acunetix v11. The installation will detect the older version, and will automatically upgrade it, retaining all your settings.
  4. After the the Acunetix UI is loaded. You should be able to see all the Targets configured in v11. Scan and report data are also retained.

  • Hello,

I tried to upgrade my acunetix from version 11.0.173271618 to the new version 12.0.180521161. Everything worked fine during installation, but then when I try to add a new target I get this message “Maximum number of allowed Targets reached.”. I have only one target configured and I’m trying to add the second one. Do you have an workaround for this issue?

    Thank you in advance.

    • Hi Dan,

That is very strange. Here are some things to check / try:

      1. From the Acunetix UI, check the properties of your license from your Profile page.

      2. Can you try re-activating your license key using the Acunetix Activation application, which can be launched from the Acunetix program group?

  • Indeed the problem was caused by the failure to activate the license, although it returned the message that it was successfully activated.
    Thank you for your help.

  • We upgraded; now we get a message that the license needs renewal.

  • Hi Team,

I am new to this Field.
Can we use the same license key to activate Acunetix V12 , which we have for V11?
Do we have any drawbacks , if we Upgrade to V12 from V11

    • Hi,

Check with your Acunetix sales representative to confirm that your license allows updates. If it does, you can proceed with upgrading to version 12. The Acunetix installation will automatically retain all your Target settings and scan data.

  • Hello,

I am upgrading and during the installation it advises of a WVS root certificate installation. Just asking about that.

    • Hi,

You will be prompted to install the certificate – this is required to avoid any SSL errors from the Acunetix web UI
