Managing internal agents

In Acunetix Premium+ Online you can view all of your internal agents from the Agents page. This guide shows you how to view information about your internal agents and how to update and delete agents.

For information on how to install internal agents, refer to:

How to access all your internal agents

  1. From the main menu, select Agents.
  2. All your internal agents are listed on the Agents page. To filter the list of agents, click the Status drop-down and select a status (Online, Error, or Unknown) to view only the agents with the selected status.

Acunetix shows all internal agents with the status you selected.

How to view more information about an internal agent

  1. From the main menu, select Agents.
  2. Click the three dots icon to the right of an agent, then select View.

Acunetix now displays the available details for the selected agent.

  • On the Details tab, you can edit the agent's name and description.
  • The Targets tab shows the assigned target(s), which you can delete and add more targets by selecting + Assign Target.

NOTE: Acunetix automatically assigns a GUID (globally unique identifier) to agents and uses it mainly for troubleshooting and logging purposes.

How to update internal agents

The Acunetix engine is updated regularly when a new version is released. The latest available engine is always pulled so that customers do not have to run an update. These engine updates do not always impact internal agents.

From time to time an internal agent update may also be released. When this occurs, upgrading the internal agent (not the Acunetix engine) requires reinstalling your internal agents and reassigning them to targets. Any old agents can then be deleted.

To update an internal agent, follow the relevant installation instructions:

How to delete an internal agent

NOTE: If you delete an agent while it's scanning or it's in the queue, Acunetix cancels those scans. You need to assign new agents and restart the scan again.

  1. From the main menu, select Agents.
  2. Click the three dots icon to the right of an agent, then select Delete.

  1. Use the drop-down to select a new agent for all the targets currently assigned to the agent you want to delete. This ensures that the scanning process for those targets continues uninterrupted even after deleting the internal agent.

  1. Select Yes to delete the agent.

Your agent is now deleted.
