Acunetix Online Vulnerability Scanner (OVS) has been updated to provide better web and perimeter security, while providing an improved indication of the security of your assets. Through this update, Acunetix OVS users can easily identify their long forgotten assets, rest assured that their servers are being constantly checked for the latest vulnerabilities.

The following is a list of new features added to Acunetix OVS:

  1. Continuous scanning – Users can have a Scan Target scanned continuously. This ensures that no new vulnerabilities are introduced in the web application, while safeguarding against new vulnerabilities identified by Acunetix. When this feature is enabled, Acunetix OVS will do the following:
    a. A full network and web scan once a week
    b. A quick network and web scan once a day which checks for obvious high security issues. Any vulnerabilities detected will be automatically added to the results of the weekly scan. Users are only notified of new vulnerabilities.
  2. Target Finder – Allows Acunetix OVS users to identify assets that may have been forgotten. The Target Finder makes use of the following techniques to identify new Targets, and allow the user to easily add them to OVS as new Scan Targets.
    a. Detect new targets from web scans. A Web Scan detects a list of External Hosts. These will be added to the list of Targets identified.
    b. Detect new targets by automatically scanning for sub-domains of existing targets
    c. The user can define a range of IP addresses, and OVS will make use of various techniques (ping, connect to the server on various well known ports) to detect if a live server is present in the range of IP addresses provided.
  3. Security indicator for each Scan Target – The Scan Targets list shows a security indicator indicating the security level of each scan target. The indicator allows Acunetix users to easily identify the Scan Targets that require attention. In addition, the user can easily load all the recent scans done on a particular Scan Target.

These updates have been automatically deployed to all Acunetix OVS users.
