Acunetix Receives 2nd highest product score for Manual Web Penetration Testing in Gartner’s 2015 Critical Capabilities for Application Security Testing Report

Gartner, Inc., the leading provider of research and analysis on the global information technology industry, has recognised Acunetix as a challenger, assigning Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner a score of 4.36 out of 5.0 in the Manual Web Penetration Testing Use Case, in Gartner’s most recent Critical Capabilities for Application Security Testing Report.

The findings for Gartner’s Critical Capabilities for Application Security Testing were published by Joseph Feiman and Neil MacDonald on August 17, 2015. In the report, the analysts identified the critical capabilities for a class of products or services.

We believe the high scores Acunetix achieved in the Manual Web Penetration Testing Use Case is an acknowledgement that Acunetix provides a holistic web application scanning solution. Acunetix saves time by accurately and automatically crawling and scanning web applications for hundreds of different vulnerabilities. In addition, the pen-tester (security consultant) can complement the Acunetix Scan using the integrated manual testing tools provided. With Acunetix, organizations can automate “expensive” repetitive tasks that are prone to human error and identify a security baseline that will include 70% of vulnerabilities in most websites, and nearly 100% of the most critical ones. Manual penetration testing is then only required for vulnerabilities that are complex to exploit, could require multiple steps in a specific sequence, or might require human logic to identify a logical vulnerability.

Apart from ranking second in the Manual Web Penetration Testing Use Case, which we feel is partly due to its great Stand Alone AST, Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner also received 3.59 out of 5.0 score in the “Web Application Security Testing” Use Case.
